2 Year Old Twins – Duluth, MN

July 23rd, 2010

These two were the sweetest two year olds EVER. This age can be one of the most challenging ages to photograph, so I was prepared for anything…but I didn’t need to be. They kept me on my toes, I got my Saturday workout out of the way & we all had a great time. I don’t know how you could ever say no to those beautiful eyes!

PS. I am entirely booked through the end of August and I have started a waiting list, however, I will be traveling back to Duluth the last week in September and I am taking a couple of sessions September 29th and 30th. I also have room for one more session in the Twin Cities the week of Sept. 7th. Shoot me an email, because the sessions will be gone in a BLINK.

Baby Belly Downtown Duluth & Park Point Beach

July 9th, 2010

Earlier this week, I met J & E at home to take some bare belly shots before we headed downtown. We met at a coffee shop and waited for the rain (that came *out of nowhere*) to stop. We enjoyed sugary coffee drinks together (except for E, she was stuck with water) and chatted . The rain decided not to stop before sunset so we rescheduled the rest of the session and crossed our fingers that Baby B would stay put in mama’s belly. We set up a session a few days later and the weather was absolutely gorgeous…maybe even a little hot (in Duluth, yes, really). I looked out my front door and saw beautiful blue skies. As I prepped for the session and looked out my back door over the hill I mumbled explicits. There was a HUGE bank of dark clouds moving toward the lake and the wind picked up. It was looking like an exact repeat of our first try. I called E and we decided to go for it anyway. Actually, I think she said something about it being a marathon to get ready these days and I couldn’t possibly put her through it again. Ha! I get it…I totally get it. The clouds passed through with barely a sprinkle and we got to work. E’s poor feet were starting to swell, so we wrapped up the downtown location and headed to the beach…where it was cooler and oh, so, pretty! Now that the couple is all moved into their new place and the photo session is done, baby B is welcome to come any day now. I can’t wait to meet her!

You make me merry, you make me very, very happy…

July 4th, 2010

I had a blast with this great family. Listening to stories, laughing, connecting. They live so freely, so very, very happy. I heard some of the FUNNIEST stories EVER. Seriously. Like camping in a tent, sleepwalk ‘oops’ stories. I will never forget. Hilariously embarrassing stories! I love it when a family can open up like that and just spill it all. :)

I do have some summer openings left & I’d love to photograph your family too. xoxo

A little announcement…

June 28th, 2010

After 9 years of living in the beautiful city of Duluth, I am taking a sabbatical to travel the country with my family. I am scheduling sessions in the Duluth area until August 31st and I will do my best to fit everyone in before I leave! September is moving time and by moving, I mean downsizing to a 38 foot RV. It’s really not as crazy as it sounds. Luckily, I have the coolest clients EVER that totally *get* it, right? Traveling to new places and meeting people feeds my creative energy. After visiting Chicago & Denver, we are heading toward the west coast. If you want us to visit your city (or town…or farm…or…whatever…), let me know! We will be back in Duluth next summer. I could not miss the blissful Duluth summers and my favorite lake in the world.

What this means for you & getting on the 2010 summer calendar is this…
I have very few dates left, and they are limited. However, I do have a couple of Friday & Saturday mornings and several weekday/Friday late afternoon openings. Once those dates are booked, the 2010 calendar will be closed. Orders will be delivered by September 30th. I will be taking Duluth, MN photo sessions again in June 2011.

I will update this blog with our adventures as they relate to photography.

adorable family

March 13th, 2010

I have been meaning to blog this session for MONTHS. Are they not the *sweetest* family EVER?? This family was such a blast to photograph. They remind me so much of my own family. These photos make me so excited for spring and green grass. :) Shortly after these images, they moved away and I will miss them dearly! xoxo

joyful two year old

March 9th, 2010

This little guy was so sweet and social. He was busy, yet so kind. It was hard to believe he was only 2 years old…he is so TALL. You can see from the images that he lives every moment with pure joy. He was such a blast to photograph! The second photo with the basketball is his [I'm up to something] look. Seconds after that shot, he threw the ball over the railing and we moved on. :)

waiting for baby

March 8th, 2010

This expectant mama was so, so sick for the session, yet so relaxed and full of love for her second baby. I sent her a message a couple of weeks before the session asking if she would be willing to go outside for some shots. I was thrilled that she agreed! It ended up being a nice sunny day in the upper 30’s and we barely made it to the shore before the sun set. I was hoping the (almost) full moon would bring on labor, but the baby was just not ready to enter the world. I’m so excited to meet the new baby! ANY day now. :)

eyes wide open

February 13th, 2010

Another sweet 5 week old baby girl swaddled in some of my new newborn goodies. Mama and Grandma were so fun! Such a great family that touched my heart. This little sunshine lights up a room with her beautiful eyes and those adorable baby expressions. ‘E’ wasn’t much of a sleeper and I really like the results! I typically photograph newborn babies between 4 and 12 days old and I am starting to rethink that. I really love to capture the squishy, wrinkly, curled up newborn stage, but I also love the tiny glimpses of personality that you get by waiting just a couple of weeks. A nice combination of natural sleepiness and wide awake newborn gazes, what do you think?
